Norwich and Norfolk Broads in Black and White

I gave a lecture in Norwich a couple of years ago and had to stay overnight because of the distance from home.
Arriving early enough for a few photos in early evening before the lecture was a bonus. The next day I had several hours around Norwich before driving out to the Norfolk Broads at Thurne.

Here are some more new images. I scanned these a few months ago but didn't have time to edit them. On the web there are more.

Near Rotterdam there is a World Heritage Site with 19 windmills in about 1 mile, all well maintained and many inhabited. It is called Kinderdijk. One is a working mill that the public can go around. They were built to drain the land not to mill corn.

I took quite a few photographs in Copenhagen when we visited there in 2009. but have so far managed just 2 scans. Here is one of them, the old Danish Stock Exchange, sometimes called the Candy Twist Palace after the Dragon Tail Tower in the picture.

Kinderdijk Windmills

Visited the Kinderdijk windmills this morning, straight after getting off the ferry.it's a world heritage site and includes 19 mills in pristine condition. For information, they are between Rotterdam and Dordrecht and were mostly built in the 1700's. .

A bit dull when we arrived but clouds broke up to give sunny spells. Spent about 2 hours wandering around taken pictures. High reeds blocked the view in many places but fishing platforms and viewing areas gave good views here and there.

All of the mills had thatched roofs and almost half were thatched from the door upwards. Quite spectacular.

Left just as 2 coachloads of people arrived, a close shave!

Now en route to Hamburg for tonight. Hope to be there by 6pm. Maybe do some night shots around streets and canals.
